What to Do When You’ve Been in an Accident and Your Car is Not Drivable

What exactly is a vehicle that isn’t drivable? Any situation where your vehicle has so much damage you either can’t drive it or don’t feel safe driving it.

If you got into an accident with another vehicle, make sure you call the police and get the other person’s:

  • License plate #
  • Name
  • Telephone #
  • Insurance company, policy # and phone #

It is important to know that if you have only liability only on your vehicle your policy doesn’t provide coverage for damage to your vehicle or rental car coverage.

Regardless of fault, you want to make sure you have access to a drivable vehicle, if you have rental car coverage on your policy (90% of all policies with full coverage have rental car coverage). We recommend calling your insurance company ASAP to start the claim process, but most importantly to get you access to a rental car immediately.
